Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) is a family of synthetic rubbers that are generally resistant to petroleum, mineral and vegetable oils, aromatic hydrocarbons and many acids. These rubbers exhibit good flexibility and resilience and perform well in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +108°C. NBR is more expensive than other rubbers, and is not cost-effective for applications do not require exposure to fuels, oils or acids. They are commonly used in the automotive and aeronautical industries for hoses, seals and grommets that are exposed to fuels and oils.
